We provide a step-by-step guide on how to add Google Analytics to your recruitment website. Firstly, free of charge, please open a 'Google Analytics' account:
Google Analytics
As a starting point, you need to open a main 'Google Account'. You will have one main centralised account, which can contain all your 'Google Accounts', such as Analytics, Gmail (Google Mail), AdWords, AdSense, YouTube, etc.
When you log into Google
- Click on 'Account settings'.
- This will take you to your 'Google Accounts'.
- Click on 'Analytics' and this will take you to your 'Google Analytics' account.
Or, when you log directly into Analytics
- Click on 'Admin'.
- Using the drop-down menu on the left, click 'Create new account'.
- Next, enter a name for the website account (bear in mind you can track many websites, if you have more than one website) i.e. enter the 'Account Name' and the 'Website name'.
- Enter the 'Website URL' (this is your domain name).
- Select an 'Industry Category'.
- Select a 'Reporting Time Zone'.
- Click the 'Get Tracking ID' button.
- Tick the box next to 'Yes, I agree to the above terms and conditions'.
Copy and Paste the Tracking Code
- Now it says you need to 'Paste this code on your site'.
- Select the tracking code and 'Copy' it, ready to be pasted (see below).
- Click 'Save and Finish'.
- Next, please log into QuickontheNet.com.
- Go to 'Preferences'.
- In the section with the heading 'Search engine optimisation', find the third section which is labelled 'Head code (e.g. Google Verification, Analytics, Alexa)'.
- Now paste in your tracking code into 'Head code (e.g. Google Verification, Analytics, Alexa)'.
- Click 'Save and preview'.
- And that's it!
- Next, please add Google Webmaster Tools - this is easy!
Getting back to Analytics, in a few days from now, please log into your 'Google Analytics' account and hopefully you will see some tracking information.
After a few weeks, it gets more interesting because you can track and monitor your traffic, when have collected some useful data.
Next, please add Google Webmaster Tools
If you have just installed Analytics for the first time, the process might have seemed tricky and complex.
If you haven't got a headache, please stick with us because this next step is very quick and simple.
As soon as Analytics is installed and verified, the process of adding Google Webmaster Tools is a breeze by comparison.
There is no need to install any new tracking code on your website because the same Analytics tracking code will also serve Webmaster Tools, if you follow the short guide on the next page.
