As soon as Analytics is installed and verified (as explained in the previous page), the process of adding Google Webmaster Tools is very quick and simple.
There is no need to install new tracking code on your website because the Analytics tracking code will also serve Webmaster Tools.
To set up Webmaster Tools after setting up Analytics, when you are still logged into Google, please start by going to:
Next, follow these steps:
With or Without the WWW. Prefix
We recommend that you repeat the procedure above with and without the WWW. prefix for your domain name. Webmaster Tools will allow you to select your preferred version i.e.
"Choose whether you want your site to appear with or without "WWW" in Google Search."
This is a matter for your personal preference, but we prefer to display our domains with the WWW. prefix showing.
It can be a little tricky to find this feature, but look in 'Messages' and you should find a welcome message entitled:
"Improve the search presence of..."
Next, click the 'Set preferred version' button and make your choice.
What Happens Next?
After the initial set up, in a few days from now, please log into your account again and hopefully you will see some tracking information.
After a few weeks, it gets more interesting because you can track and monitor your traffic, when have collected some useful data.
